Hope it gets there................

A week ago yesterday, our church had a bit in the bulletin about items that were needed in Joplin, MO. One item listed was chain saws.

I had an extra 14" Poulan that I bought to replace a same size Homelite that was acting up. I then got the Homelite fixed and decided I liked it better than the Poulan. So I donated the Poulan to the effort in Joplin.

I hope it gets there and gets used for the intended purpose instead of winding up in the trunk of someones's car.

I heard yesterday that they are having problems with getting to much stuff and not having places to store it till they can hand the stuff out. A few churches in the area are being told to hold on to what they have till they need it in Joplin

a least you can go to bed with a clear mind knowing that you did somthing for the ones that needed.... thoses who take/steal from the ones that help, will get their rewards in the end when they least expect it.

I heard that, too. I can't imagine, though, that they're being inundated with chain saws.

The John Dealer in Joplin donated all labor such as chain sharping, tune-ups and etc. they even have a guy picking stuff up to be repaired.
I personaly know Jack Purington who ownes that dealership plus others, first class JD dealership and first class people.

Part of the problem right now is having people who can do the work and we are also having a heat wave here with very high humidity levels and that is also causing problems. It has been in the 90s for a week plus and 70% plus humidity

Update. As Old said, Joplin is actually oversupplied with some things, but---

My wife works part time at our church and this morning noticed the chain saw was gone, while a bunch of other stuff, personal hygiene items, etc. remained. She asked the pastor's secretary what was going on.

The secretary said it was an organization from Norfolk, Nebraska that was sending a truck to Joplin, and when they found out there was a chain saw at our church, they came sailing through, picked up the saw, and left the rest sit for the time being.

Their contacts in Joplin specifically wanted the chain saw above all else that was there.

We had four from our church down there for two weeks with the Associations Chainsaw Ministry, they said the best thing they took with them was a skid loader. That made it a lot easier to get trees to the curb. All they were doing is working around the edges of the disaster(no trees or buildings left in the middle)I have heard that they really have no place to store anything, they are using straight from the trucks.

The Norfolk group would be part of the Orphan Grain Train purple and white vehicles also Andrews Van lines assists them. chris
