Lookin' for a 35

Massey Ferguson 35 that is. I know I'm supposed to post in the classifieds, well I did that but thought that maybe some of you didn't read them regularly, I know I don't.
I have a line on one but it's in PA which is a LONG way for me to go to pick up a tractor.
I'm in Canada on the border with Minnesota so anywhere in MN, ND or WI would be ideal, but I'd consider SD or IA. And of course NW Ontario and Manitoba would also be good.
I would like one with a gas engine (Z134) so it's the same as my 202 parts wise. Don't need loader etc. as I would just be taking it off but I do need a functional 3pt. and PTO.

Nothing wrong with a Perkins diesel if you find one. Keep 135's in your radar. They have a bunch of nice improvements over the 35.

I have a couple of reasons for wanting a gas engine, maybe more. Cold starting in the winter, I can swap parts to/from my 202 if necessary and I don't have anything else that runs on diesel currently so I would have to be buying yet one more fuel. Another reason I'm interested in a 35 as opposed to a 135, the engine in a 135 is not the same as the 202. 35s seem to sell for quite a bit less than a 135 and gas engined 35s seem to sell for less than the diesel version. For the type of work I will be doing with it I don't think a 135 would be necessary. Having said that, if I find a 135 at the right price I would probably consider it. I guess I won't know unless I run one how much better it could be.

i'll tell you Inno, I have 2 x-industrials, one was a golf course mower one sidewalk sweeper thing, basicly the odder 135's, One 3, one 4, both gas, both with power steering and diff lock, rare on a 35. i've got my eye on a couple more ex industrials, and a early to35, but the old one isn't negotiable for its condition... Just check out every MF you see, there must be 4 or 5 engines in 3 or 4 models you would be happy with. Look em all over, pick one...or two.

Much improved 3 pt. hitch and controls, beefed up rear end and some other minor improvements. I'd still consider a Perkins diesel if the price was in your budget. The direct injection like in a 135 is an excellent cold weather starter but the older indirect injection in a 35 isn't too bad. If a diesel can be plugged in, they will start as good or better than a gas engine and use half the fuel.

Valid points but the diesels do seem to go for quite a bit more money. I don't know about starting, I didn't plug my 202 in all winter and had no trouble at all, it starts very easily. Generally no more than 2 revolutions and she's running.
I have been doing a LOT of internet searching but unfortunately a lot of the smaller dealers, the ones most likely to have something I am looking for, do not advertise on the internet. Most of the dealers online are trying to sell much bigger machines.
I'll just keep my eyes open all over, something will pop up...........or I'll just make a drive to PA!

There's nothing wrong with a 35 gas. We have a 35 special (no live pto or lift, pan seat, etc...) that my grandfather bought new in the fall of 1959. We use it regularly as one of our main chore tractors and we haven't had many headaches with it.
