OT Polaris Ranger

We've got a 99 Ranger 6x6 that goes through tires like they're goin out of style. Today I had a fire with some weeds and branches and stuff that had fallin out of trees around the farm over the winter and noticed when I was emptying the bed of some branches that the middle tire had a nice tear right down the middle of it. The tires are bald and we've been waiting for it to happen. They go bad so fast because they drag around corners on the back. The problem with this is that we got the tires last year. It does see a little road use but nothin major. Does anybody know of a good ATV tire that I could get that wouldn't wear out in a year (It has titans on it now) ORRRR even better does anyone seen or know if the middle set of tires can be tied up in the back or something like that so it would make it a 4x4? Thanks for any replys.

first off, make sure youre not running with the differential locked all the time...you ever rotate tires?

It's always in 4wd in the 2 back wheels, can't turn it off unless I can disconnect it somewhere. It has the button on the dash to switch the front wheels on so then it's the 6x6. The back tires all wear evenly so I can't rotate em either and the fronts are not as wid as the backs. It's a pain ha

I have a 6x6 ranger and bought it used with real good tread . 3 yrs. later it still has real good tread . I think the tires on mine came from polaris because there is a P in the tread pattern . I guess that these tires are made for the presure the 6x6 puts on them . If this is the case I am sure they are not cheap . They should make them so you can unlock the mid axel but the thing sure is a work horse , Power steering would be nice in the tight spots .

I've got a 1999 Polaris 6X6 also. My middle tire assemblies needed new u-joints, shocks, and springs. I just removed the whole assembly. I now have a 4X4. Like it a lot better. Just unbolt the suspension and remove. The axles do not go into the transmission, so you don't have to worry about oil coming out. Try it, you will be happy with the results. Steers better also.
