Little black wasps...

I know I can google them, just was wondering what the best way to get rid of 'em? They are about 3/4 the size of a mud dubber, maybe 3/4-1" long, and hundreds pour out of a crack above a seldom used roll up door, on my barn. I also have had them, in an electric motor. For as many as have come out, though, haven't been stung yet, go figger!

You have 2 good options.

1. The Wasp spray that is at the hardware store, works good.

2. Or...Brake cleaner with the small red straw, This kills them instantly. (I like using this cause it works the fastest and it is cheaper)

GG, can't see a nest to spray, there is a crack, maybe 1/4" wide, across the top of the door header, 10' wide, where they come from, but I can't see a nest. when you grab the door, and move it 2", or so, they come boiling out!

Ive got them under my trailer, the one I haul my tractors with. I stir them up cutting grass around it, and when I hook up to it. Ive never been stung by them either. usually by the time I get back home with the trailer, they are gone, and dont come back for the rest of the year.

Dust where they enter and exit with some sevin powder. They will track it into the nest on their legs and all will die.

well if they dont sting you maybe let them be,they are probably eating lots of bugs that you wont have to kill!

Hit them this mornin, wid a politically incorrect chemical, the was alluded to in another thread. Will check the door, tomorrow.

Do you have any vegetable dust that contains Carbaryl.. sprinkle it on the top of door, they take it to the nest.
After killing all these be prepared for more spiders. which is worse.?

While it is pretty rare for me to remove a mud dauber nest or kill one I tend to remember that the stings from those little black wasps are severe. Might be the large black ones I'm thinking of, but have to admit that I would get rid of them too.

I don't mind spiders at all so co-exist with them too. I just figure they keep the other bugs down.
