The heavier my stuff gets.............

Had the front loader off my tractor (frame and all) for a year or so and had a few minutes downtime yesterday. It was dumping the rain down and the tractor was in the barn with the frame parts laying close by.
Pretty simple job, just lift them in place and put in 6 bolts each..... Did it all myself 6 years ago and dismounted it myself also...... Don't know exactly what they weigh but think they were about 3 and 1/2 tons yesterday........ Guess I need to adjust fire a little and maybe use a hoist..... Was gonna mow some hay tomorrow but it's calling for rain, maybe I'll get it done.

Tell me about it!

Some things I did with one hand and the other tied behind my back five years ago, now requires waiting until my sons are around to help me.

I use to paint our kitchen in one day, but last year it took me 4 days. Applying semi-gloss you need to wash the surface, then sand the surface lightly to remove the gloss. Then you need to go over the surface with a damp cloth to remove the dust. I had to move the refrigerator
in order to paint behind it. I used the same roller I wrapped it in Reynolds wrap. I guess it happens when you hit 78 and the better half at 80. Been married 58 years. Hal

Yeah, when I was a kid, feed came in 100# sacks- dad just threw them up on his shoulder and headed for the barn. By the time I got on my own, they were 80#, I did the same. Now they're down to 50#, and that's about all I want. I think the reduced size is for 2 reasons- most of the sacked grain is handled by horse women/girls now, and less "sticker shock".

We had an 8N with a loader, and the loader was never off for the 40 years dad owned it. He often said he didn't see how anyone could farm without a loader tractor- he used it for lifting, carrying the fencing tools, block it up with a cedar fencepost and hang a block and tackle off of it, etc.

When I buy barley, oats, or corn it's in 50kg sacks (110#) after a couple of them, I pout for a week..........

I used to run a five minute mile. Now it takes me five minutes just to open a BEER. Also I have noticed that things weigh a lot more than they used to.

Yeah, and they call that the "golden years".
Golden my a$$!

They should've shot that sumbitch that invented that term on sight.

By Brother had a saying there --
"The golden years seems to have a lot of tarnish in them."

Seems those that keep in shape live the longest and with perfect mussel tone, Look at Jack Lalane for instance,, but he never did things we done Pure work always called it a work out.

Friend of mine talking about his daughters bragging about walking 6 mile on a tread mill every day --- If they did that pushing a lawn mower he would have the nicest yard on the block

We as younguns got all the exercise we needed on the farm doing chores. today it is called child labor infringement ?????
