i got a 300 international gave to me. the engine seems solid, but when its started and you go above an idle there is a sqeulling sound coming from the flywheel housing or just back aways from that area.. clutch in clutch out, rolling, dead stop, trans in gear or out of gear, the noise doesnt change. engine oil pressure is 45 pounds. hyd work just fine, no cavitation. the guy i got it from said he had a guy go into the clutch area and replaced parts, didnt change anything,, any ideas???????

sounds like a throw out bearing,, This might sound kinda funny but a tractor I had was making a simalar noise and it ended up being the starter. it had to be shimmed out a little

had an IH 350, it would do that. was told it was because of the TA not holding. spring loaded roller bearings would slip on surface just behind TA gears, and it would make a high pitched metal grinding on metal noise.

thanks for replying so quick.
unfortunatly i didnt get any service books with this old horse, what is the TA your refering too. and to check or make any repairs to this, will the tractor have to be slit?
thanks agin

i will take a look at the starter, at first i thought that might have ben it, but the noise resinates all over that area.. it would be easy enough to check thou.

thanks

Sorry if I don't know those models. But a lot of tractors had dual input shafts into the tranny for Independent pto. If that one does it could be a bad bearing in the PTO through shaft and would not be affected by clutch function.

Art, where are you at? I used to have a 300U, don't have the tractor anumore, but I still have some manuals, I'll send ya the manuals for the cost of postage.
