Wife finally put pics where I could find them. Here's Jack, he's got some settling in to do but is doing fine. Had no exposure to equipment and a woman that was scared of him handling him. He tries to buffalo the wife but is learning what I did 15 years ago...He is axcious to to learn and eats up the attention he gets when he does something right. As soon as harvest is over and there is no big machines on the road, he'll startgoing for jogs with the quad.

I am not a horse guy but he looks like a beauty. I was wondering if you have to have anything from the government to have/own horses where you are at??? Some townships here are requiring livestock permits to limit horses to certain areas. They had some real winners trying to keep them in subdivisions.

My grandpa usually had a quarter horse around, but always had Belgians! I am quite picky on colors, but that there is a BEAUTIFUL horse! As if my opinion means anything! LOL

Not really. Each horse has to be microchipped and have an equipass that reflects shot records and if it can be slaughtered or not and record of rabies and other contagious disease nnalert if it is transported on public roads, especially when crossing state (bavaria, hessen, etc)/country borders. A lot of folks have horses and don't have pasture. They stay in a big stall and get excercised. You should see how close our houses are together. The last cows and pigs were sold off a couple years ago, but 11 years ago when we moved here, within a 75 yard circle of our house was a hundred or so pigs, well over a hundred cows, fowl and other livestock. You would never know it o drive by.

dave2, thanks for the memories! When in the Army,
in Germany, in the 60's, (5 Marks,20pf to the $)
we took a trip on back roads in France. Most of
the houses had the barn downstairs, at road level
the farmers lived upstairs, right over the barn,
and there were piles of manure right out side of
the house/barn front door, by the road. We went from Frankfurt to Strassburg,to Ludwigshoffen,
to Frankfurt, and I don't recall going through
or seeing "Customs", but maybe we were "Waved"
through" due to USA plates on out Opel.
