I have developed a intermitent squeeling noise from the front of my 05 F 150. I didn't think I would be needing a manual so soon, but I don't have one. How is the tension released on the front belt. I can't do anything until I get this belt off, or loose. Thanks for any help. Stan

there is a pulley on there with a 15mm bolt, put a wrench on it and pull like you are going to loosen or tighten the bolt, it will move so you can get the belt off. there is on stationary pulley and then a tensioner pulley, the tensioner pulley is the one that moves to enable belt removal. and nine out of ten times the squealing is coming from the stationary pulley, I have had to replace three of them on different "newer" ford trucks. Thanks for the info. It worked ok as you described. I didn't find any bad bearings. So I put it back together. While running the motor I found the noise came back. What it was, was a loose motor lifting bracket ratteling. I should be good to go. Stan

Ill bet the belt needs replaced. Once they squeel they wont stop. They sound like all the bearings are bad in the Alt. I have had 5 belts on my 93 because they squeel. Anti-freeze wrecks them.

Squirt a couple shots of ATF on the belt and see if the squeeling stops, if it does it's the belt.
I've got a Cadillac and 2 F-150s that are notorious for this. The ATF solves this for a couple months at a time.Of course if there is a lot of cracking in the grooves of the belt it's time to replace it anyway.

Take the pulley to a bearing shop.Bearing will cost 2 bucks. The pulley will cost 40 bucks at a Ford stealer.
