A couple of days ago I posted a pic of a bug, of course someone on here knew what it was. They're known as wheel bugs. Did a little more reading about them, they're a beneficial bug! Yeeee Haaw! Good bugs to have. This dude is munching on a japanese beetle.
The articles I read about them said they were usually a solitary bug. Guess someone forgot to tell these guys. See how many you can spot in the picture. They've set up in my okra, that's just beginning to produce. It was japanese beetles that did the damage on the leaf in the foreground.
Picked the first of the okra yesterday AM, not quite enough for a mess. In a few days though, there'll be enough for us and several other familys. We like it cooked up with onions, tomatoes, and corn. Start frying the okra in some bacon grease, when it just starts to brown and slime up the pan good, add some sliced vidalias. When they start to get soft, add the corn. When everything looks like it's getting done, add the tomatoes. Simmer the whole conglomeration for a spell until done. Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!! A meal in itself. Mark
