How can you get rid of buzzards that are resting in a cemetary? At times their might be over 100, mostly sitting and messing on the headstones and slabs of marble. Thanks for any ideas.

Not sure a friend in Ashville, Nc has them roosting in his back yard. Leave in the fall and return in the spring. Fish and Wild life may have a solution.

three S's come to mind.
Some people would laugh at them but others wo0uld be offended by the mess they make.
If it was a country cemetary I would eliminate the problem-maybe by adding poison to a carcass so hopefully they would eat enough so when they fly away they would die elswwhere but this probably isn't realistic. Maybe shoot a few and the rest will leave?

Shoot one and the rest will leave. Buzzards were after a newborn calf a few years ago, with enough of them that the cow couldn't keep them chased away. Got out the 222 and shot one and left him where he lay. That was the end of the buzzard problem. Joe

This is right. Bought a farm that was overrun by everything wild that was not desirable. I have some friends who like to shoot and can shoot good. They killed one buzzard, left it lay, and that was it. Buzzards don't come back to this day and that was 7 years ago.

It was on the news tonight, a Cessna 172 crashed into a cemetary in Toronto, Canada.

By the time the 10 o'clock news came on, 186 bodies had been recovered. Authorities expected many more.

Just be aware that if you choose to follow some the suggestions below; buzzards/vultures are protected by law.

This how I keep crows out of my water mellon patch. They got to two melolons so it wouldn't be long before they will be back. I put up some fence posts, and strung fishing line like a spider webb over the patch, and put a couple mirrors on the ground so they see them selves. They haven't been back. Buzzards may not be as smart as a crow. Stan

Saw a crow the other day sitting on the right door of a new car jumping around fighting the intruder in the side mirror, pity the paintwork.

Contact your fish and game.

They are protected but when the roost in large groups like this the threat of spreading salmonella due to the concentration of waste is a concern of the state and welfare of other animals. More than likely you'll either get tags to eliminate some of them or the state will do it.

Good luck.
