OT Went for a motorcycle ride to here.......

Yesterday Mrs. Lloyd and I went for a motorcycle ride to Bedford, Va.. There we visited the National D Day Memorial. Very interesting, a very amazing event. 4,500 americans died that day, 22 of them from Bedford Va., the most in any U.S. city per capita. Therefore it was decided the memorial should be in Bedord.

Only about 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which made for some real nice riding.

I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway on a Goldwing in 1990 while on vacation. An amazing ride and magnificent scenery for a flatlander from Kansas where trees are appreciated.

The ride wasn't planned just for fall color, but the locals all said the trip was at the 2 day ultimate peak for maximum viewing. A co-rider was so taken with the beauty she suggested we just stay and ask our kids to ship our belongings to us. I appreciated it too, but not quite that much.

Have not heard of the memorial before. Any idea when it was erected?
