Bad day for truckers

The wife came home from town yesterday morning and said that a guy I rent a little bit of ground from had died. I still don't know the details, but the neighbor told her they found him dead in his semi trailer down south somewhere. He was only about 50 or so. I liked to think of him as trucker80 since he was twice the conspiracy nut as trucker40.
Then last night, she was reading the obits online and said that another local trucker had died. This one was only a year younger than me. I guess from the place of death,he must have still been in Jackson Prison. He got caught with an underage girl several years ago. Never heard how many years he got out of it,but if it was life,he's free to go now.

There are so many things that we should be thankful for, that we take for granted. Being born a humane is but one example and there are so many more. The comment about the guy who may have died in prison, because of his involvement with an underage girl, reminds me that I am very thankful that, my own $exuality or $ex drives are considered normal, in this society and do not require much conscious discipline from me. I pity those who must restrain themselves in order to not offend and risk paying the price. Most of us are truly blessed.

That long hauling can sure be a lonely existence. The other guy makes you wonder if something happened while in prison. There is a fellow who is a few years older than my wife that grew up in her old neighborhood. This person (about age 35 at the time) got caught on a drug charge, was sentenced to something on the order of 30 months and was sent to Attica. He served 24 months and was released. My in-laws saw him at his parents house and said he looked like he aged 25 years in the 2 he was in Attica. I've driven down past Attica when I've gone down to Arcade or Springville. It makes a person wonder about what goes on inside.

NY986, were you around when they had the riot back in the 70's? I remember it on the news, worked with a guy that was in the national guard that went in when they took the prison back. Bill in South Wales.

I was in elementary school back then but even as a kid I remember seeing it on the national news. I understood the seriousness of it. A couple kids I went to college with had dads that worked there when the riot happened. Their hearts beat a little faster after that every time their father left for work.

'Bout a month ago, here in Asheboro, N.C., a trucker cheated death. He tried to beat a RR locomotive to the crossing! Made scrap out of the tractor, how he came out alive I will never know! He even refused to be taken to the hospital to be checked out. My daughter said he must have been strung out on something.
