3 point hitch

Hello,
I have an old allis WD with a 3 point hitch kit on the back. The hitch has a sway block on it, therefore it will only narrow up to a width that will accept cat 2 implememts. Cat 1 implements are cheaper and easier to find. Does anyone know of an adapter kit that will make a cat 1 implement work on a cat 2 hitch? Thanks

Many tractors the sway block can be changed to work between the 2 sizes. With your third party setup, hard to say without seeing it.

Of course cat 1 implements are lighter built, smaller than the cat 2 units, so it's pretty easy to wreck a cat 1 implement with a cat 2 tractor on hard use - something to consider when comparing prices and function.

WD isn't really a Cat 2 size tractor anyhow- believe I'd get rid of the sway block or modify it for the much more common Cat 1 implements.

IIRC, my Oliver 1550 had a Cat 2 hitch, but had two part sway blocks on each side- take the inner one out to narrow it up to Cat 1 size, and use bushings.

Sway block as in a set of chains or what?? If chains that is simple you make them fit for what you want. I have had many of the A/C tractors with add on 3 points and all of them are and have been cat 1 types so not sure with out a picture wat your problem and or fix is

I use cat 1 implements on a Cat 2 tractor all the time by simply buying sleeves for the pins on the Cat 1's to size them to the Cat 2 holes.
Works slick. Cheap too.

If your category 2 balls is wore out, you can always get a set of new balls, what has 2 sets of holes made in them, one is cat one, and the other is cat two, that you weld into the old sockets, at the ends of the lift arms!

I'll agree with the others.. Remove the sway blocks and get the "sleeves" for the pins..

Hopefully for you, it's not the same as my D-17 is.. The sway blocks are welded on mine, so it'll take a lot of grinding to make it work. My blocks are "wedge" shaped, so I have talked about cutting them so it will go narrow enough for cat. 1 as opposed to totally removing them altogether. I've had the tractor 7 years now, only ever had the need to use my 3 point a handful of times, so it's never become a priority for me I guess.
