want to hook up a temp flasher setup for tail lights on a hay wagon to be powered by the tractor, no tractor flasher unit (1958 model) but have an easy power source to tap.

ANy suggestions on a cheap, generic flasher unit from an autoparts store like Napa?

You can use a 2 terminal turn signal flasher for a car with a 12V power source. Pretty simple circuit. 1 terminal of the flasher to the battery, the other to the bulb(s), 1 terminal of the bulb to ground.

(quoted from post at 10:11:39 09/29/11) Just go to any auto parts and tell them what your doing and they shuold be able to help you.

make sure you follow the yellow brick road to get there
Just find one with an old guy working the counter.....

why does it need to be powered by the tractor?. The local farm store has magnetic LED flasher lights that are powered by a nine volt battery.
No power chord, no connection problems. turn on, slap on to amy metal part and go.

Follow geezer's advice. Slap it on and go. You can take it back off and store it in the shop when you get home. Jim

The cordless LED ones ain't cheap for one thing...

IMHO flashers may be worse than nothing at all. With no lights the law is likely to pass you by. The second you put ANY lights on the rig, you need to be 100% DOT-compliant with stop, tail, turn, head, clearance, marker lights...

The flashing lights do nothing to improve safety. Scientific studies have shown that people ignore regular rhythmic flashing lights just as easily as no lights at all. There are so many flashing lights out there that we've just become desensitized to them. That's why you see snow plows and cop cars with random flashing patterns.

INCase.........go to a BICYCLE store and gitt one of their battery operated safety flashers and it will blink yer trailer. Simple, eh? ........Dell

dell, gotta tell you, those bicycle flashers work great!!! i moved a square baler a couple years ago , daybreak on easter sunday. picked up a couple of the 4-5 dollar bike flashers (2 double a battery) taped em to the back of the baler, drove about 70 miles with em. backed the baler in the barn and shut the door. couple weeks later i noticed i forgot to shut the lights off and they were still blinking.

The magnetic ones with an internal 9V battery do not require any wiring and can be moved to any wagon. Most tractor supply stores carry them.

I picked up a trailer light kit, mounted it on a piece of aluminum tubing (conduit would work) - connects up to car/truck trailer plug. Mount light assembly on back of whatever needs towed = bungie cords or whatever. I also made a plug with a flasher and battery connections to allow use with a battery or tractor battery if needed.

just grab a 2$ 2 post thermal flasher module from any parts store or walmart.. run it inline with power to your lamps..

that and a switch and fuse..

On the hay ride wagon we use at the museum, I got a 6 volt flasher from NAPA (2 prong) and ran power in one side and out to the lights from the other. You can use the crimp on spade connecters to attach the wires.
12 volt would be done the same way.
If you have 12 volt and want a better setup - Get the flasher (I don't recall the part #) that they use in a School Buss. That will give the lights that wig-wag look.

If its a 12v. system a sf552 flasher would be the one. It will flash the same rate regardless of load. (within reason)

Would that part number handle a lot of lights, because my flashers that I put on my White and Massey and when plugged into a implement seem to slow way down on pulse rate as they heat up. Is there a super duty flasher I can get. Also, is there a mouting bracket available anywhere for these things, mine are just bouncing around under the dashborad? Thanks for any help.
