Tractor tire question

I currently have 16.9 x 34 tires on my 656 mounted on 14” wide rims. They need replacing and wondering if 18.4 x 34 could fit on this rim. I think they recommend 16” rims but wondered if I could make them fit on the 14” and how tall they would end up?

No- wouldn"t work well. You can safely go an inch wider or narrower than rim width, using old size markings. Your 16.9 is 15 inches wide, OSM, already an inch wider than the rim.

Well yes you could put them on and use them but, that said they will look very odd and not last any where near as long due to the fact it is very hard on the tire side walls and also a bit harder in the rim so not a real good idea to try them

Not saying you don't,but remeasure your rims because there is no 34"tire made for a 14" rim.If they are your orginal rims, they will be 15"which will work fine with 18.4-34 tires.Maybe 90% of tractors that came on 16.9s now have 18.4s on them.

Did just that to our 3020 JD a few years ago- we love the increased floatation. It sits up about 4 inches higher than before. Not sure what size rims we have, but have had no problems with this setup- but I can see where narrower rims with wide tires would give trouble.
