some buildings on the site,the old mill was moved to the site,and you can walk thru it to see it,the riverboat used to be a summer home on the river nearby and another shot of the coverd bridge the road next to it is called red bridge road, The Gruber wagon works was located at this site many years ago

Now, that is a covered bridge! I understand that there quite a few still in existence in PA. and New England states. I think there are only two left in N.C. I don't know how it works elsewhere, but in N.C. when the DOT discontinues use of a bridge or section of road, it reverts back to the landowner, thus making them responsible for any upkeep if so desired. Therefore, most covered bridges literally fell by the wayside, or actually into the creek. One of the existing bridges is in the county where I live. It's only 50, maybe 60 feet long. A few years ago one of those 100 year floods swept it down the river. 'Course most of it didn't go far because of the woods lining the river. Folks pitched in, many volunteering time and money and salvaged all the pieces that they could find and it was rebuilt back to original specs, except that the foundations were beefed up and it was anchored so it would stay put in case of a next time.
