Hey folks,
Not gonna try this myself but just want to know if it's a possibility.... Service to house is 480 (maybe 400) volts (100 amp). Normal house current is 230V.
Old service was upgraded to a breaker box but used existing wire plan...
one breaker for lights and plugs on the 1st floor and one for the second. Second floor continues on to lights/plugs in the barn, workshop, and stalls.
Not a problem and was done/inspected legal.
Actually IS a problem sometimes like today. water blew into a cord in the barn and tripped the breaker knocking out power to upstairs, workshop, stalls, and barn.
Now, this is just regular housecurrent service. Also have 380 volts to the kitchen for the stove and barn for my grain roller (??) (same circuit).
What I'd like to do (have done) if possible is:
The 400 volt cable runs into my workshop and thru the wall into the kitchen stove. Would like to run that first into another breaker box and then be able to run to the stove, and my grain press, and supply the 230 volts to run lights/plugs (with seperate breakers for each highvoltage run and seperate breakers for lights and plugs on 230 volts).
Is what I'm asking understandable??? And possible?
Dave
