found my husqvarna problem

Checked all the fuel lines and had good spark, decided it must be deeper.....it was the piston and cylender are both scored. Looked up factory parts at about 275 + shipping and looked at aftermarket parts at 87 shipped. If I go factory I will be well on my way to a new saw 325-375 +/- if I go aftermarket I will have a 5 year old saw that may or may not last. Any thoughts on the aftermarket parts?
Thanks

I had the same repair done to a Stihl MS440, it was a similar price difference and I went with the aftermarket parts, I have put some more hours on it since with no problem. I'd hate to spend the money for factory parts, but I am a cheapskate.

Well, either way you are still gonna' wind up with a 5 year old saw. The price of the OE parts will go a long way towards the purchase of a new saw. Most after market parts are pretty good unless, as cold beer said, they are made in China, then I would be cautious.

Is the P/C really really trashed? What looks like scoring on the cyl is melted aluminum from the piston. If it's not really trashed muratic acid can fix the cylinder and a new piston is about $30.

Some of the early 350's had a plastic clamp on the intake boot, I believe there's a upgrade available.

I've heard bad things about Golf pistons. Meteor and Episian are good. NWP (Taiwan?) might be ok????

just did my rancher 55 piston, cyl.gaskets VERY easy to change about a hour or less go on ebay got after market for 59.00 free s&h runs like a new one now
