We're just full of cheerful news aren't we? LOL I would guess that your winter is much more severe than ours. Can't say that I look forward to winter very much any more. These old bones complain about the cold.

It looks a lot like it's already winter up there on one of those mountains. We have dark colored wolly worms saying it's going to be a tough one.

Fall work is done, put the thin fuel in the tractor and the snow blower on today and packed the shed for winter. Potatoes are dug, garden is plowed, wood in the basement, let er come!!!

....... We have dark colored wolly worms saying it's going to be a tough one......

What the .....!?!?!?! We are only about 60 miles north of you and havn't seen a real dark wooly worm all fall. We were just talking about it after church yesterday. All the signs up here in the corner of the state say mild winter.... thin hulls on walnuts, light wooly worms, small anthills.......

We'll have to keep track and see what happens, everybody knows the signs never fail. LOL

I am in western PA and I found a completely black one today... it's an omen!

oh man... They said something about a blizzard this weekend, I hope it was a joke... I hate snow almost as bad as I hate Al Gore!

btw, Al, where is my global warming? I want to bale hay in December...

Doggone memory... And I"m not that old yet.
Can"t remember what mom used to say about what you see in the persimmons.
Can you help?

How far above Sea Level do you live. just curious. Those Mountains don"t look too high but from Sea level they might be real high.We live at 1200 Ft. above Sea Level in Az.

From Farmers almanac

According to old-timers, persimmon seeds can be used to predict the severity of winter weather. When cut into two pieces, the persimmon seed will display on of three symbols. A knife shape will indicate a cold icy winter (where wind will cut through you like a knife). A fork shape indicates a mild winter. A spoon shape stands for a shovel to dig out the snow.
