My dog is going to have pups in about 3 weeks.Does she need to be on a different diet?Do i need a place for her just to have the pups.She shares the kennel with her sister.

What kind of dog (just being nosy)?

Just good quality feed is fine but she should be getting up to twice as much as when not pregnant. Just feel her and make sure she isn't boney. A nice layer of fat (not too thick) would be good, especially as it's getting cooler. You should give her her own place a few days before time to whelp.From now until the puppies are weaned, you could just give her free choice feed and not hurt anything (she won't eat more than she needs) and plenty of clean water.

I start giving my expecting mommas about 1/3 more halfway through gestation (57-63 days). A couple of weeks before expected date the extra is puppy food, which is higher in fat and protein. Plenty of fresh water. When she whelps, a little water. She'll have an easier whelp if given privacy. Might get aggressive with her sister otherwise. Here's one of our 2 week old bird sniffers.

She is a border collie,not a gerat cow dog but she sure trys hard.Her sister on the other hand would be quite content to sit at the food bowl all day or chase sparrows across the yard.

I just got a border collie pup, a female. We laugh that she is ADD-HD, she plays with about 4 toys all at once. She is about 12 weeks old now. She plays with all my other dogs, but one day one of them had enough and gave her a gash on the nose, didn't stop her. She is a digger and a wire eater. She will learn a lesson or two about that from me, then she will stop, lol........
