Work light with two big magnets on it on the fender of the tractor....First little bump and 2 35 pound magnets let a 2 pound light fall off........ guess I gotta rethink the inverter mount brainstorm......... Stuff sure sounds good when you're settin on the couch typing it on the forum......

I was born at night.but not last night :)

Guess just the size of the gight was just awkward compared to the size of magnet???

I've had similar problems. The mags will withstand a static load, but if it moves, it doesn't take much to loosen them. Vibration will make them move too.

thin rubber pad between them to give some resistance to moving?

another thing i have done it to put a thin bead of clear rtv on the base of a magnetic attached device ( in my case it was a large antenna ).

the rtv cures and holds good, it prevents water from seeping under the magnet and getting trapped there and corroding the metal.. plus.. when you are ready to remove it, it just peels off and don't mar the paint or magnet.

I got one of those pre-made magnetic tractor lights - Harbor Frieght or local farm supply store - and it held good on top of the hood, flat surface. Might not stick well on a curved fender or not-horizontal surface?

Tractor lights died a few harvests ago, and never knew how long the wait in line at the elevator would be, so good to have some type of light along that year. Got the factory lights fixed by spring.

Reminds me, need to fix the rear work lights on the Ford 5000, when turned on they all go off, tractor must have a reset fuse, and rears must be shorted somewhere.....

A magnet on a thin sheet metal fender can't hold as much as it could on even a 1/4" plate, or better yet a 2" plate. That 35 lb magnet on a fender probably really only has 2-3 lbs of strength to it.
