'07 f-250 w/6.0L deisel good or bad?

I would stay away from a used 6.0L. There were some that had no trouble and some that cost a ton in repairs. I had one and put 120K on it, was a great truck.

Stay away from it. We had one in a service truck. From day one it was a problem. Went through front tires like candy. Transmission dropped out twice. About once a month it had to have the fuel pump seal replaced. Got so bad that is was not allowed to make service calls more than fifty miles from the shop. We called it one a day, because it ran one day at a time. Never knew when it was gonna take a dump on you.

i know a few guys who have had them and it sometimes seems like the ones that were used for grocery getters last a while .where the ones ones that were used like a truck pullin trailors and really worked had alot of expensive problems i would run and not look back.

116k miles the injectors had to be replaced. I know two other guys have had problems with injectors too. Mines a P.O.S.

The prices they still seem to ask is really high for those. Same as something with a good reputation ! I can't figure it out ?

Only use one 4 or 5 k miles a year. surly a gas engine would work out and likely even better for you.

Wife just got rid of a 2004 6.0 everything was fine tell 137,000 last march, since then we spent $6000 and still needed to spend another 3500 to get it in safe shape.
It's gone now but the pain isn't don't ask how little they are worth on a trade.
I've a 99 7.3 with a 180,000 miles of hard use maybe spent 2000 in the 110,000 ive driven it. I,ll just keep driving it.

I own an 06 and it"s been a good truck but it does require a lot of maintenance. If it isn"t driven on a regular basis, the variable vane turbo will have the vanes stick and need to be replaced. They aren"t made for short trips - they need to be warmed up on a regular basis. Lots of other potential problems depending on how it"s been maintained.

If you"re only driving 5,000 miles or so a year, you"d be a lot better off with a gas engine.

I had a 2003 with the 6.0 first year for that engine, it was nothing but trouble and junk, I got so mad at that truck, I sold it and bought a duramax chevy, then realized what junk really was and went back to ford, got an 08 with a 6.4 I have 120,000 miles on it and not an ounce of trouble, still original brakes on it yet too. Maybe the later 6.0s are better but I have nothing good to say about the one I had.

4-5k miles a year is all you may be able to put on one. The rest of the time it will be in the shop. I'll never own any 6.0 or 6.4 Ford. A good start to a scrap pile is all the motor is good for. Just my 2 cents. If you are going to get a ford get a 7.3 stroke. Thats the only one that is any count at all.

Huh?

That 6.4 is one he!! of a engine! 'Bout 100 times better than that old 7.3 ever thought of being.

Keepin' a radiator in 'em is somewhat of a trick tho. :>(

Hated mine. 2003 F550. It was in the shop more times than not. 2 Transmissions, replaced all injectors, turbo, and all sorts of electrical problems all within 55,000 miles. I have a 2008 F450 6.4. Can't wait to get rid of it. Gutless, milage adverage of 8.6 empty, plowing snow down to 5.6. My 95 F250, 7.3 will out pull it any day with 18 mpgs with 243,000 miles on the odo. When my lease is up on the F450 I'll be getting another though. Good reports on the 6.7. But I still love the 7.3's.

I've got the 6.7.

21,000 already and this is why the old red truck came into being. :>)

That new one is just toooo nice a truck to be bangin' it around the way I do. :>(

I got a '06 6.0L. I too drive it about 5,000 miles a year. I haven't had any problems with it since I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. But the previous owner had 2 oil coolers, 2 egr coolers, and 1 set of head gaskets put on under the factory warranty between 50,000-80,000 miles. It has 120k on it now. The only thing I have replaced is the cracked y pipe ($500) and new tie rod end ($115). Not to mention replacing worn out 12.50x35x20 tires at $2000 that I knew it needed when I bought it.

I figured if the engine would last 25,000 miles (5,000 x 5 year payments) I could then afford to fix it when it breaks. I will put the arp head studs and egr delete kit on it when the egr cooler goes next time. Then, it will be one stout truck. I love mine, but know it is only due time till the cooler or head gaskets let go again. All diesel trucks have their downside. It is a pick your poison no win situation with any diesel from 03-08.

I hear the 6.7 scorpion is a beast . Talked to Jasper engine rep. He said they buy lots of new engines, run them till they blow then disect them to find out why and what to reengineer when they rebuild them . Told me they have had a very hard time destroying the 6.7 so far .

I had a 2003 with the 7.3 and loved it...now I got a 08 with the 6.4 and it's just as good after I got a programmer for it. The only drawback on it is the slight dead spot untill the turbos spool when gunning it. When they do look out!!! She's kickn' 426 horse now!!

If it has a 6.0 and doesnt have the EGR delete watch out. EGR takes out the oil cooler, oil cooler takes out the heads and or head gaskets, all in pretty short order.

seems like I've responded to this question twenty times. :-(
If it were the only truck available, you would have to settle for a 6.0.
See-uns as how there are other brands, and the same brand with MUCH better engines - why would anyone want the POTENTIAL for all those headaches? A "great deal" at purchase will most likely snowball into being upside down due to serious repair bills.
