im putting lights on my farmall h. 1940. it has a 6 volt generator. can i run wires from the generator to amp meter then back to the battery? and then wore the lights off the battery? will it still charge? i looked at the diagrams on line but im not sure what to do

Wire should go from the battery side of the asmmeter to the switch. Then another wire from the switch to the lights. If the lights you have are internally grounded, as were the originals(only one wire to them) that's all you need. If the lights are not internally grounded(two wires coming from them) then you need to ground one wire, and run the other one to the switch. Doesn't make any difference which one you ground.

I put lights on my Super M and used the "charging" side of the ammeter. The lights will only work if the tractor is running. However you wanna take that. It worked well for me.
