truck and bale bed

07 chevy 3500 6.o with live hydraulic bale bed, belt squeals at idle all the time, tried several things nothing helps for long, any ideas would be appreciated. thanks

new belt, new idlers, adjust alinement at chevy dealer, belt dressing, wire brush on belt while running,wd40 on various places while running ,added more pressure while running, chevy dealer gave up

I'd say that you are asking the belt to do more work than it's able to do.If that is the case,a'repair' is not possible.you're going to have to figure out a different way to drive the pump. You're going to have to go to a pto pump.

check the sheave groove for excessive wear if the belt is running deep in the sheave that could be your problem.

which belt is squeeling, the trucks serpintene belt, or a belt running the hydraulic pump for the bed, if its for the bed, is it a serpintene or a v belt? if serpintene, these belts cannot have any chemical on them at all, the pulleys either, or they will squeel, providing nothing the belt is running has a bad bearing you will have to fully clean everything then replace the belt again, if its a v belt, check to see where the belt is running in the pulley v belts should not run in the bottom on the pulley, there designed to grip the sides of the pulleys, if the bottom of your pulleys are shiny, its trying to tension in the bottom of them, and it will slip under heavy load,in this case, clean the pullys and try the next size wider belt, ie; if its a 3/8 wide belt try a 5/16th or 1/2 inch wide belt

The neighbor has had round baler problems for a couple years. The dealer tried everything. As a last ditch effort he remembered his Dad sometimes used barn lime on belts. It's been working great ever since. Might be worth a try. Paul.

Are you sure you do not have a restriction in the hydraulic system? If it squeals all of the time then it could be pulling too hard for the drive belt. I have seen hydraulic dump beds do this if the pressure regulating valve is set too high.

If it's the serpentine belt be sure all the pulleys are lined up. Power steering pump pulley can be pushed on in the incorrect place.

Does your bale bed operate off a belt driven pump or is it electric over hyd similar to mine?????
