update on heifer-

Had mama over there since..monday... few days with her. Neither would come into the corral for a couple days, but the with the corn cob treats and slow soft voiced visit both had been coming into the corral. Today while they were distracted with landlady giving them cob treats I walked out and shut the gate, added portable corral panels to any place I thought little miss would try darting through. Well, land lady lured mama into the trailer with a corn cob, baby looked at me crawl into the pen and decided to join mama in the trailer. I shut the door and had a sigh of relief. Heifer is with her sisters and brothers, mama is back with the rest. Amazing how calm the calf has gotten, even let the land lady pet her this morning. Was a good day!

Cool, we had one running around here a couple of years ago......almost ready to shoot her but we did get her in.

Hey, glad to hear that good news on that heifer. Good day here too. Had quite a bit of unexpected help show up to work with the injured neighbor's bales. We got 2,000 bales off the field and stacked in another neighbor's shed in just over 6 hours, and that included stopping 1/2 hour for lunch.

I am glad that you got her in where she belongs. She was just fired up when you where trying to move the whole bunch.

Glad it worked out for you..........reminded me of when I bought 25 heifers from a guy by Rice, MN, in 2000, and one calved in the pasture....had to wait a couple of days before the calf came out of the adjoining cornfield to join momma. Worked out fine, usually does- nothing to obsess over, but yeah, makes you wonder at times. Nature rules, if we just let it.
