ARGH!!! One Thing After Another

So,

The transfer case front output shaft that I had bought off ebay finally got here from New York.

I hurry and throw the whole she-bang together, let 'er down off the jacks and go out on the high ground to do chores at the farm and then back into town to get some feed.

Twice today, the check engine light comes on and the front axle engages. Once while I was at a stop sign and agian later when I was backing out of a yard.

Looks like I have more sparks to chase before this little job is finally complete. :>(

Gotta be. LOL!!

I swear, if there's a weird problem to be had, I'll be the one who'll run in to it. Every darned time. :>(

Oh, and fer what it is worth, think I'm gettin a bit long in the tooth to be heistin' those silly transfer cases up in to place while lying on a creeper.

Don't remember them bein' quite that heavy when I was younger! :>)

(quoted from post at 17:15:48 12/01/11) Little SOB isn't blowin' fuses, but he's fer damned sure yankin' around on that front axle. :>)

lean the grounds at pass side back of engine and all others you can find

Thanks Pard,

I remember seeing that goofy ground strap hangin' there in the wind the day I bought the ol' rip.

Whadda think? Body not grounding?

It"s not you Allan. It"s a known fact that those transfer cases absorb moisture and get heavier with time.(grin)

It"s just like amps... they get heavier at the end of a gig from all the notes you play.
Transmissions get that way from years of experience put into them...

Allen I think and (I have raised two teenage boys so this is areach)their are 5 grounds wires on the right rear corner of intake manifold.I had trouble keeping that grd so I ran a number 10 wire to grd of battery and helped a lot of issuse

There!

Fixed the goofy thing. Took a transfer case shift shaft retainer ring and she now works like a new one. :>)

Darned lever was moving sideways in it's bore just enough to let that front axle switch make contact and hook up those front wheels.

Downside is that I found a bad u-joint and loose yoke on the front driveshaft. Will it ever end? :>)
