Hi everyone, I have a question that I have yet to find an answer for: I have an older Hyster H70C lift truck maybe from the late 60's or early 70's. It currently has a bad F227 engine. I found an F163 in good running condition for 400 bucks. Does anyone know if the F163 will interchange the F227?? It looks like despite the lower number (163) that the F227 is at least as old if not an older vversion of the same engine but I have no idea. Any help is appreciated!!

The 227 eng is a 6 cyl where the 163 is a 4cyl eng. They are from the same family of eng so they would interchange as far as accessorys and bellhousing and flywheel go but you will be way underpowered.

You might have to change the timing cover/front motor mounts, as there are about a dozen different variations depending on application. Some also have an idler gear(up front) that drives a live hydraulic pump. Look at that area closely.
