Thinking about a rock box for one of my tractors. I've got a platform or loader or some way on most of my tractors for carrying whatever. I looked over my steel pile in anticipation of making one, but it doesn't look very promising. I'd like to find something used I could adapt. Any ideas where to look?

make a set of brackets that will support a wheelbarrow. Then make it so you could keep using it for that as well! Jim

how big is the tractor? if its a fair sized one, ive seen one where the guy got the back half of a old '50's or 60's era 6 yd dump truck made it into a trailer, and used the tractors hydraulic remotes to run the dump , worked pretty good, if you have a smaller tractor, say 4 to 5000 lbs, you could make the same setup out of an old puckup rear half, and fab up a set of hinges for the rear and a hydraulic cylinder for the front, , a small tractor, like a N series ford, your going to be limited by the tractors weight and hp, but ive seen a guy build a steel box that mounted to the 3 point hitch, he would load it by hand untill the front end got light then go over to where he was taking the rocks, to dump, he set the box on the ground, unhooked the top link and raised the lift arms and drove foward, this was on about 5 acres so he didnt need much, as far as capacity, depends on the size of your rock needs i guess,

CaseIH Maxxum. It's got holes all over the front. And I've got some variety of 1/2" flat stock, just none of the big angle iron I once had. Only limitation I'm concerned about is width, as this is a MFWD tractor, and I've got the wheels in for 30" rows.

Bob is not talking about a rock trailer. A rock box mounts on the front of a tractor, is usually hinged to dump, using a trip mechanism. Handy for picking rocks during tillage.

Could you adapt one of those rear mounted 3pt hitch dirt buckets to the front? I have one that I use on the rear for rock picking - works really handy.
like this?

How much weight are you expecting to carry and what kind of stuff (other than rocks)? I've got dump containers for poop and just a simple platform (4'x5') on two 6ft 4x4's that slide in over the drawbar and wedge under the tractor that handles about anything, including a round bale...

If you have an idea of what you want, I may be able to find some pics & deminsions....
