Allis-Chalmers in a Dodge...

Had to put an alternator in the 89 Dodge.Had to remove the aircleaner 'hose' for access.Decided to check airfilter since I was there.Guess what I found? An oem AC air filter from 1973!The PO had sold his AC 200 over 10 years earlier. The PO only hads the truck about 6 months before I bought it 2 years ago.Seems the PO had a 'hired man' that was a real 'gem'!The old truck now has the right one.

the real question is how does the allis chalmers filter compare size wise to whats supposed to be in there??? as long as its the exact same size, meaning it will form a seal between the top and bottom of the aircleaner housing, the allis filter is probably as least as good as oem, probably better, BUT if that was thrown in there because it was what the gent had on hand and it did not form a seal, you may as well have been running that engine with no filter at all for 2 years, a scary thought!

The filter was the same hight adn diameter, the center hole was smaller,so no it did not seal. The truck doesnt get used much-not too many miles.you know,a 'rangh truck',service truck, etc. It doesn't seem to suffer any damage(?).And yes,my 'service intervals'tend to stretched out a little.Steve

do you one better, have friend who put Ac engine in dodge pickup, the tractor hood and grill were installed down the center of the dodge pickup hood. truck was all black and had the original orange tractor hood and grill install in the middle of the dodge pickup hood. was one kind.
