American Guinea hog

American Guinea Hog, Any one know much about these little hogs the wife wants to keep a few. Any advice is appreciated.

I raise a few they're very mild mannered and gentle compared to larger breeds, have a build about like a Hampshire, generally mature at about
200lbs,great foragers on a pasture but love to root, good meat.I got them to kill for myself and they're about the right amount of meat for me to handle at one time.

LOL. I thought you were referring to guinea PIGS, those annoying little furry creatures with a tendency to bite. Googled guinea hogs, and learned something today.

I planted a bunch of Turnips and have been pulling them and feeding them to the Hogs this Winter, plus in the Summer I plant grain sorghum,Grain Amaranth,
Squash,Pumpkins and similar stuff in the to feed them plus a portable pen in the garden works good at the end of the season if the ground is dry. They will also make good use of older rotten round bales of hay.
