Another Car Added to the Collection! (PICS)

I added another car to the collection this past weekend when I had a 1930 Ford Model A Murray Bodied Town Sedan brought down from Wisconsin. A friend of mine told me about this car back in October of last year and he sent pictures of the car to my email. I thought it was a nice looking unit but the $5000 the lady was asking was out of my price range. So a few months go by and my friend told me that the lady in Wisconsin still had the car for sale and she had lowered her price. After hearing that I promptly got a hold of her and got as much info on the car that I could. It was described as being in great shape, and since I have always wanted to add a Ford Model A to the collection I shot her an offer of $3500 and she accepted! That was back in December. I got the car paid for and then the process of getting the car down started. I eventually found someone that could bring the car down and yesterday my beautiful 1930 Ford Model A arrived! The car is in fantastic shape. It hasn"t been run for approximately 8 years, but before they parked it it was a running and driving car used in Parades and the such. The engine turns over with ease. Now I just need to do some cleaning up of things and try and get her to start. The wood on the car is in great shape from what I can tell, there isn"t a whole lot of rot anywhere. The body is in great shape as well, there is just one spot with a little rust at the bottom of the cowl on the passenger side. The interior is in great shape for being original, although I did have to clean out a few mouse nests. All in all I am very pleased with the new addition to the collection and I hope to have her running soon. I just have to find time to work on her between balancing school and work.

I hope you have enjoyed the story and pictures, as well I look forward to the replies!

Thanks!!

Looks like a good project. It is hard to find a car that hasen't been messed with. A few years ago the lady may have got her asking price. but with the economy now, and I don't think the younger generation has the interest in old cars, is keeping prices down. I love them. Stan

My first cousin and I went in halves on a 1931 Model A like yours in 1959. We each put up $12.50 and it was ours. Kept it a few years and sold it for $25!
