OT no start on 99 dodge diesel

Hope someone can help with this. '99 Dodge ram diesel that has an intermittent no start issue. It seems to be a lack of fuel to the injectors, but can't figure out why. If it was an older model i'd say the shut off solinoid was bad, but these don't have the shut of solinoid on them, the ecm does it... Anyway, started fine yesterday morning, but not in the afternoon... and no start this am... When i crack the injector lines, i got fuel at injectors 3 and 4, but not at #1 (didn't check the rest yet). Can't figure out why if wouldn't have fuel at #1, but does at #3 and #4??? I've swapped the relays around for the shut off module, and check the wiring plugs to make sure they're tight, any other ideas?

lift transfer pump, would check that first, my 99 has 200,000 and not one engine problem yet, still has orginal batterys and lives in wisconsin winters

There is a hole in your fuel line and it is sucking in air. I know because I had one that did that. The line just starts to rust though. What a job though. I found the best way was to take the truck bed off.

First thing i would do is a pressure test of the lift pump. If it has not been updated you may have done damage to the injection pump . The sucking air thing like others have said also could be the problem. I went thru this with my 95 and about drove me to drink more . My problem was at the tank where the line connected to the sending unit , it never leaked a drop and showed no signs of leakage but when i touched it it just fell off . Then the next round was with the fuel lines behind the tank. Since they are no serviced by the dealer i had to make them both . If the factory ones lasted 16 years then this set i made should last 20-25 years since i could not find .028 wall in straight length over 6 foot I used .035 wall hyd line as it comes in 20 foot lengths . It was a little tougher to bend but i have the benders to do it . When i was done it all fit like a glove .

May I ask how you think the ECM controls the fuel going to injector pump without a fuel solenoid?????? I've only seen 4 ways to stop a diesel engine from running.
#1 pull/push cable
#2 fuel control solenoid
#3 killed by throttle lever(early JD diesels)
# removing the availability of fuel(blockage in supply line) or air to engine.

I agree the fuel is probably leaking out of supply line from tank to injection pump. I have seen the fuel lines with pin hole that would let air in the system but not leak fuel out.

I know hwat i said sounds sort of silly, what i should have said is there is no external shut of solinoid that can be remotly powreed, this one as i understand it is in the pump, not a seperate unit like most tractors used to be.

thanks for the replies...

found the problem: injector pump failure... there was a code, once we put the scanner on it.
