That reminds me of the cartoonist named Lex Graham that had a calendar cartoon of a cowboy sitting on the tailgate of his pickup in a drought handing out cubes to his cows.

Cartoon caption stated "there's one for you and one for you"

Few years back had about 40 calves at the house and no good way to feed them. Had a couple old bath tubs for feeders and had to carry the sacks of cubes out to pour them in. After about two weeks had to ride the lawn tractor out to the tubs cause I had 40 little mouths trying to eat me and 160 little feet on top of mine.

I really cant say much because ive done it also, but Its REALLY not a good idea to feed them like that. Honestly, theres not much that can hurt you faster than a old cow, even if she is just trying to get fed.(unless its a horse or mule who doesnt respect your space).Old neighbor just a couple of years ago stopped and opened a gate and wind blew a empty feed sack off back the truck. He turned his back on the cattle to grab it and a old cow hit him and broke his back, trying to get fed first. Hes still just barely getting around.Honestly and truthfully, day in and day out,its best to keep them a little afraid of you.just like a horse they need to know where your space is. they dont really make good pets, regardless of how tame they are.

There is no doubt about the danger, this is not a common occurence, she doesn't come out very often and got a kick out of it. I feed in bunks along the fence, don't much care for getting in front of the herd anymore, it was allright when there were 5 but when it gets to be 60 there's not much comfort in it.

Don't pay attention to the doomsdayers.... Life (death) is a number game.... When it's time, it's time, whether you are giving a cow goodies or pluggin in the toaster... Only problem I see is, all your cows are gonna die of old age as long as they let her give em goodies......

Yep would have been the answer. Don't keep them here often just the drought had killed spring pasture and I had them eatin the flowers in the yard. Thankfully thats over. (I hope)
