O/T One less tooth...........

The last several days, one of my rearmost molars had been getting progressively more painful.

Finally got in to see my dentist a few hours ago, and I left his office with one less tooth. He said he could do a root canal, but on that particular tooth he win the battle and lose the war. I half expected that outcome, and by then I was willing to do whatever it took to get out of the misery I was in. It was the first tooth I lost since I lost one playing high school football. And that one cost me a commission in the Marine Corps. I didn't think the gap was that noticible, not like it was right in front, but some dental officer said the gap created an appearance unbecoming an officer. I can't recall anyone else ever even commenting on it.

My dentist's OK, though. I see him at gun shows, and occasionally when I have a routine appointment, he'll start off by telling me about his most recent firearm purchases.

His wife is no slouch with a 9mm auto, either.

Goose,
Had a somewhat similar experience in '59. Took a physical at Great Lakes for the NAVCAD flight program and was send home because I was a 1/4" over the 6'-4" limit. Often wondered if that might have kept me from being a pile of bleached bones somewhere in North Vietnam.

I had to have the second one from the back on top pulled on both sides last year. The ones with 3 roots on'em. One in January and one in June. The regular dentist wouldn't touch'em because of the position of the roots. Sent me to an oral surgeon. Cost me $285 a shot. After I had the first one out,I thought I would REALLY have trouble eating steak with them gone on both sides, but I've gotten used to it.
