My 641 Ford/loader has 16x6.50 tires on front. One looked soft at 35 lbs so put in 40. Is that enough? My eyes aren't good enough to see the plies. TIA

Get a magnifying glass if needed and take a good look at the tires. The maximum inflation in pounds per square inch should be printed on the tire. Having said that, most tractor front tires have a 6 ply rating, so you should be able to inflate to 45psi. 8 ply tires should be able to safely hold 65psi.
