To heck with tractors and work

Let's go fishing.

Guy sent me a e-mail saying my new custom built boat was ready and the new motor will be delivered and installed this week.

Length: 17’
Bottom: 58-1/2”
Sides: 23-1/2”
Beam: 6’8”
3/16” hull
1/8” air tight double bottom
#5086 Marine Grade Aluminum
Yamaha F70LA

This is a place that builds boats for the oil field and fisherman like on swamp people.
Can not wait to take it out and see how it runs.

Yeah, go ahead and rub it in! On my income all I can do is stand on the bank and say, Ain't that a nice boat! Seriously, I hope you enjoy many hours on the water.

Nice.....
Never forget when I was a kid, ourb friends drove from OH to M and picked up his new bass boat. All proud of the trip and the boat. Another friend said it was just a glorified jon boat...... Everyone laughed at it but the guy was never invited to cookouts and I don#t think the boat owner ever spoke to him again.....

You boat people sure are funny

Have Fun.

Obviously some custom amenities there John. Would you walk us through them? Also where you "gonna" fish?

I went down to Lafitte one time and fished the coastal marshes. While there I went to one of those custom alum. boat builders who was working on one of the oil field boats, with the metal cabin, that you mentioned.

GPS would have worked real slick for me beins I went quite a ways from the marina/boat store and was in unfamiliar water.....all the marshes looked the same.

Caught some nice specs, and the biggest fish was a Bull Red and I don't remember his weight, but he was huge and really put up a fight....in true Red fish style.

Congrats. Looks great......now tell us about it. Grin

Considering you start with nothing but a bare hull everything you see is a option. The only thing you must have is the front deck as it is structural in this small a boat.

I really did not add a lot of things. That is the beauty of these boats. You can get a striped down boat today and add things every year as money becomes available.

While I will miss some things I added
Side console with single cable steering.
Rear deck with splash well (open under and front)
Fantails (open under side)
Foam filled in air tight double bottom
Bimini top
Trolling motor wiring and double battery tray
Pipe to run wires from console to motor area
Seat box with storage
4 seat pedestals and seats; 2 in box; 1 in front deck and 1 in rear deck
Spray in liner

The picture shows a trolling motor; I will add the one off my old boat. I did not get the rod holders or the cup holders next to the seats.
I will use portable fuel tanks for now to get around some of our state laws.

I fish Lafitte sometimes but mostly Empire and Hopedale areas.

Thanks John. So what are the protrusions off the top of the transom. Look like following water deflectors. Seem to be too high to be bait wells. Let me know.
