Our 08 Ford Edge is losing brake fluid somewhere. Seams about every 6 mo. the brake fluid light comes on, and I need to add a 1/2 cup or more, of fluid. I dont see any leaking on the wheels. Any thoughts? Stan

That's a lot of fluid not to see the leak. I would pull the master cylinder to see if it's leaking into the booster. Gerard

Don't look just at the wheels but follow the lines all the way up to the front of the car. have some one apply the brakes when you're looking for the leak. OR; Apply a small amount of pressure on the brake pedal with the engine running. When I say light pressure I mean light pressure. If the pedal creeps down to the floor the master cylinder is leaking by. This process can take 1-2 minutes. You may have to perform this test a couple of times till you get the hang of it! This can be the process of an experienced mechanic to perform. Let us know what you find.

I agree with the others and maybe it goes does just from wear? And the reservoir isn't quite big enough? Just a thought

Stan, How many miles do you have on your Edge now? Just curious if this is something I need to watch for on my 2011.
Thank you

Any of the issues we"ve had with a edge"s
Loss of brake fluid isn"t one of them. To
add that much fluid I would hafta say remove
the master cylinder from the booster & see
if there is evidence of fluid lead, where the
engine would just burn the fluid.. It is
possible a low fluid light might come on once
the pads wear down & the resivore capacity is
only a minium.... But not 1/2 cup every month
or so.. I believe it"s the booster if you cannot
find any visable leaks..

I have about 35,000 mi. I should have brought it to the attention of ford dealer when it was still under warrenty. I thought it was from pad wear. Stan

Stan, Thank you I just got my 2011 on Jan 5, it had 18500k on it, today I have a touch over 34K, I got the extended warranty because I drive so much! I will keep a close eye on mine.
The Learning Curve was Huge on this rig compared to my old 01 F350. The computer run system.... AC/Heat, Radio, Navi, Phone,,,Panel,& Steering wheel controls was a B!tch!!!
