So which kids slept in the not so bear proof tent? Got enough insurance on em? HEY! I know! Any kids who get warning slips got to go camping in grizzly infested woods in a tent! Sounds motivating to me!

ou know the secret about camping in grizzly country dont ya....you put a rotten old pork chop in the campsite next to you!

Yeah, probably a little early in the season for Artic Circle camping- LOL.

My 2 sisters and I, and our spouses, and kids, and now grandkids, have been doing a summer campout most every year for the past 35 years or so, at a state park we used to go to a lot when we were kids (Millersylvania- 8 miles from the farm we grew up on- Dad could come camping, and still go home to milk).

Would have been about 1984 when Mrs. and I taught #2 son to ride a bike while there- and last year, he taught his 4 year old. Lots of good memories. I'm pretty lucky- we're all in our 60's, and as far as I can remember, neither we nor our spouses have ever spoken a cross word to each other. Among the 3 of us, we've been married to the same spouses for about 125 years.

Ya call that a camping trip? well shoot, when we were kids we had to hike 40 miles one way up hill and nother 40 miles uphill to get home, plus Dad didn't cook, we had to fight the bears to get the berries, had to get our water out of the creek, if we wanted meat we had to run it down and choke it to death, then had to eat it raw. we only ever asked to go camping one time, but them were the longest dam 6 months I ever lived, We sure were glad to get back home to Mom.

ol, those were the days... just one question Rusted, did ya choke any chinkins when yous were younger...lol

Cold? it was 84 here, the A/C ran all day:) We spent
three days at the local state park ourselves.

Looks like you need to teach them to leave the jim-jams at home
and sleep in their clothes! We done a show last week-end and slept
in the storage trailer, not exactly roughing it. Last year was too warm, I think my three had
all their clothes on this year! Then it rained....... Don't think I will
have as much help at that show next year.

Down south here in GA it"s too dang hot to camp in a tent June-August, make that mid September. I can"t sleep in a pool of my own sweat! So we camp spring and fall, spent last nite in a pup tent with my 5 and 7 yr old in the back yard, it got down in the 60"s and all was well.

Nice pics and memories you"ll keep Lyle.

Looks like our campsite, right down to the jumper cables.

Would have traded you weather. It was 86F today in mid-Michigan. Not exactly what I was looking for, low 70s would have been much nicer.

Looks like a bunch of injuns sittin around the old campfire with their cell phones buzzin. And that look of "What the hail is that white goo, anyway?" Man, it's bad enuf livin with four wimun at home. Bet it's a real treat in a camper---
