Firs of all If you are happy with your whatever, I am glad , I am not selling trucks, just a post for those that are wondering. Not a F 250 but for years I have driven a f 150 4X4 trading about ever two years at 60 thousand miles. When the v 6 with the turbos came out I was really reserved and did not trade righ away. finally Traded first of March. Now has around 7500 miles and really tired it out Yesterday and today. Photo shows I pulled a 18 ft car carrier from Dover Tn to Douglas Ga. empty. Running thru terrain that is about like eastern US including some mountains. down was 533 miles , no load on trailer. Made it in just over 8 hours average fuel 16.8 miles per gal. Trip back with the socut loaded ran 15.3 mpg. Considering that I ran 65/70 + and kept my foot in it I am more than satisfied just tickled pink with the gas millage an performance. And Allan I checked the tns temp on the hard pull (Monteagel Mt) never went over 200 deg. ran up about 196 deg. Does have trailer tow with tns oil cooler. I am not saying this is the truck for the goosneck and stock trailer but for light loads not bad..O the Scout 1977 4 cyl streigt shift..ready to restore..

I have several runners and several parts ones. Try to buy ever one I come across that is priced right. Am thinking this one will be my run around vehicle.

After all the garbage Ford put me through with both my SVO Mustang and 4.6 V-7 F-150 (and we won't even discuss the Bronco II) I'd be scared of anything Ford with higher technology, if it works fine, but if it doesn't all the dealer will do is "they're all that way" and Ford Motor Company will let'em get away with it. You shouldn't have to write Dearborn to get a seat belt recall done, but unfortunately you have to and the dealer calling ever six months to brag to me how bad they screwed me on service and warranty has not helped heal the relationship. Yes our new Dodge was troublesome when new, but I spent less time with six Dodge warranty claims than trying to get one Ford seat belt changed under warranty and anything that went wrong with our Dodge was fixed, can't say that for the Ford. It still leaks and the only reason it now runs on all 8 cylinders is because I took it somewhere and had it fixed. The recent fiasco with the gas tank straps indicates nothing has changed. Note to Ford- if you want to reduce your warranty claims don't make junk cars and trucks that leak, don't run on all cylinders, have seat belts that don't work, cruise control that catches on fire and gas tanks that fall out. Heck Ford can't even make a window sticker that matches the truck (2011 Crew cab).

I followed a buddy home the other day in his Ford, identical to yours. He was driving one of our big spray trucks and he has a cdl, I dont. I'm a diehard chevy man, but that's the nicest truck I've ever driven! Plenty of power and rode like a Cadillac, I'll keep my paid-off Duramax 2500, but one of those fords would satisfy the majority of my truck requirements, with a lot less fuel.

Wonder if you will be a "Die-Hard Chevy Man", when you find out that Chevy has GONE CHINESE..

Saw the GM CEO telling it was "Their Future" and he was "proud of it"....
Full-Tilt Dealership and Manufacturing plant installations going in, in China for (apparently) some time..( Thanks a Bunch, to our Kenya-born pres...
What a Maggot...

I'm NOT going to own another GM product..
Seemed they didn't mind taking the "Bail-out"..and NO, I do NOT believe they "paid it all back"..

I"m a Ford guy but currently drive an 07 GMC half ton 4X4 crew cab. I bought it because it only had 9000 miles on it. Im not thrilled. It is a grocery getter, not a truck. It has way too few springs. It sags in the rear with my empty bumper trailer.

I couldn"t have been more thrilled with my old 97 ford. Problem is that I crashed it. I couldn"t find a ford for as few dollars as this GMC. I now know why.

One of my best friends is a full time mechanic. He told me that Ford half ton trucks came to his shop with very few problems. His only complaint was the spark plugs twisting off in the cylinder head. He puts Chevy transmissions and differentials in regularly but has never installed one on a ford newer than 2004. He told me he drove a Chevy because of the ribbing he would get for driving a ford. He said a dodge has never been an option.

There is a reason that ford didn"t need a government bailout.

Well, then try to complete a sentence...

Perhaps EXPLAIN what you are trying to say, so we all might understand ...

Don't believe the part about Chevrolet (Soit?)
Better wake up..it IS TRUE...!!!

I Stand behind my other comments...

Ron..

Lets not allow truth to enter our minds.......Ford saved itself because before the econemy collapsed Ford was in trouble and wile the getting was good dumped a lot of the none profitable branches.

Yea we all know that Ford is evil.........but then explain to me........a former pro mech.......why??????? I don't want BS I want provable facts. I'm almost 57 years old and only know of one person who has had trouble with Fords warrenties.....and that was because he trusted his dealer who was screwing him.

I love my Fords but Ford has nothing to compare to our Chevy Suburban. And Ford makes nothing in front wheel drive that I would buy.

Another fact that may have passed some of you is that a few yers ago 67% of the cost of a new vehicle from the "big 3" was labor both past and present. Some folks were claiming that it was only 37% but that was only current workers, not retirees. The big 3 signed those contracts with the retirement bennies when the average worker retired at 65 and dies at 69.

Another fact that may be slipping by is that GM, Ford and Fiat....err Chrysler are all looking at making cars in China.......for export to other countries, not the US or Canada.

Want to see some truth.....go look up Ford/GM HP and Torque claims for thier diesels......look up the power curve......then try to find that info for the Dodge Cummins diesel. Don't just look at what they claim......both Ford and GM will tell you at what RPM's the max HP and torqure is reached.........now try finding that from Fiat.....errrr Chyrsler where they reach those points......I have not checked in about 3 years but then max advertised HP and Torque was reached at over governed engine RPM's.

I can sit here and nit pick all night design short comings from the big 3.....none of them are prefect.

Yes Sir,

Ford has always had a good tranny. That's why I went to work for GM; highest failure rate in the industry. :>)

Yeah-you are "nitpicking." You got away from the topic. He's talking about his Ford F-150 and then you got into the "apples and oranges" thing.

I like the truck. I bought a 150 last December...been tickled pink...but still trying to figure out that grafic instrument cluster. I find something new every week.
I still have the 96 Dodge 12 valve for towing heavy loads, but your right. The Ford sure rides nice on the highway.
I am pretty picky and have had to go to the dealer once...no hassle at all. Good folks there.

I have managed to collect several in my lifetime but this one is right out of the barn. Man died 12 years ago and I finally got it boutht. forty six thousand miles, little 4 cyl streight shift.
Really a little hard to find. Think it may be my runaround truck. Got one real nice restored one but just like to collect them.

Allan the way you are in to transmissions I wish you would go drive one of these pickups. The transmission is SIX speed With overdrive. Lots I don,t understand about it but it is absolutly the easiest shift I have ever seen. Part of that has to be that the gears are closer together ,but the operation is some kind of smooth. I want to see a cut away or breakdown on the thing got to be a lot of moving parts, that is why I was watching the temp in those hard pulls but I am really impressed with the transmission more than the engine which is also pretty nice. Hope your weather is letting you get things done..Great early spring here

You take a perfectly sane post and turn it into hate. This is not about politics, it is about discussing equipment. Go back to FOX news if you want politics.

Did drive one.

But, I need the power for towing and is why I went with the 6.7 Powerstroke.

Yep, they are some kinda nice, no doubt about it.

Watch that wind dam on the left front....they get to vibrating, crack at the outer bolt and work loose.

Allan

Well let me just say this, I bought a 2001 escort new and when it had 47 thousand on the odometer my grandson drove it thru deep water and sucked water thru the intake. It busted a piston and stuck the rod thru the front side of the block. I knew that ford would jack me around so I went to Houston and picked it up. Grandson was going to school to become a mechanic like hid granddad, cept they don't call'em mechanics any more. I called a friend that has a wreaking yard about 60 miles away and ask if he had a late 2.0 for an escort, he said he did and said I could have it for free, but I should raise hell with ford first. I called the dealer where I bought it and also my f150 supercrew. Told them exactly what happened and they said they'd come pick it up, I told them it was on the back of my F350 and I'd bring it to them. told them to call when they figured what they could do and before any of my money was spent. They never called, so after 3 weeks my wife called them, the guy said they put a new engine in it and it was 50 bucks to me. That really torqued my jaws that they did that without telling me first, and for that when I needed a new truck I went straight to them and bought my new supercrew. I figured that would teach them a lesson. The wife put another 40 thousand on the escort and a few weeks ago she drove it to Fort Worth and gave it to one of our grand daughters.

The direct injection gassers and the high price of diesel will be the end of the light truck diesel market. Except for a few diehards who still think diesels are still a 12 valve P pump Cummins. Or if they want to chip thier truck into a smoke blowing 500HP Crome stacked display of thier manhood.

Did you MISS the part about GM Going Communist..???

That is not a "Big Deal"..???

You certainly DID miss the Boat on that one...!!!

Perhaps you are a typical abundant and condone CEO's of money Loosing Company"s, getting $23.000,000.00 in Bonuses...

Now, YOU have earned a place on my "abundant List"...
