Does anyone have access to old Jacobsen part numbers?

I need a cross reference for a part number of an old Jacobsen flat belt. The belt says: Jacobsen Mfg. Co. and the part number APPEARS to say: 313140. But it is so worn its hard to say. Could also be: 318140, 818140, 813140, etc., etc. I'm pretty sure the last 3 digits are "140" and the second digit is "1", but again I'm not 100% sure. The first and third digits appear to be either a "3" or an "8". Its a 54 inch flat belt and its about 1 inch wide and is red in color. PLEASE. If anyone can help or if you know of someone who can. I NEED TO FIND THIS BELT. Thanks.

Does the belt have a lacing or isit endless. If you can use a belt with a lacing it should be fairly easy to find someone to make it up for you. Belting can be cut to any width needed and laced to the length you need.

If you post a photo of the belt, showing a close up of the serial number - I can put it in a photo program and do "fade correction" and "clarify" and it might make it more legible. No guarentees though.

Will try to remember to look back here to see if you posted a pic.

It appears to be endless. I had one made from someone at a local antique engine swap meet (Jacktown) a few years back, and the belt lasted all of 5 minutes before the lacing was ripped right out. Its the mower deck belt.

My dad used to be a Jacobson dealer in the 60s. I do not have any
pats, but am interested. Is this a barrel type mower with the flat
belt on the side of the engine?

It may take a little fussing and checking for size, but you can use a poly vee (automobile serpentine type) belt, turned inside out. Off the top of my head, I can't say if one inch is a standard width for auto use, but I am sure an industrial supplier could match it up.

I've used auto-type flat serpentine belts on a few old odd-ball machines that needed flat belts.

NAPA sells a flat 1" wide by 54" serpentine belt flat but with rib). Part # 25-D070536

They also have a mostly flat belt with teeth that is 1 1/8" wide by 56 1/8" long. Part # 6316.

Yes I believe so. Here are some pics: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/064ad51ab0.jpg

As you can see the belt runs off the motor pulley and curves around two other pulleys and then around the large deck pulley.
