How to get rid of crows

Our church building is being attacked by crows. Actually I believe that it is just one. It pecks at the windows and damages the wood around the glass. We put on some screens that were in storage but they went to other windows and I think that they are also tearing up some screens now. I know that they are not protected but I expect that poisoning is not legal. neighbors would be nervous about shooting. I am not into organic maybe scare them recordings or hanging CDs near each window, because those methods work for just a little while.

Actually they are protected up to a point as they
are migratory and we have agreements with our
neighbors. There is a season here in Mn where you
can take them and you can also take them any time it
appears they are doing or about to do damage.
Covered.

I just heard recently that crows live to be 40-50 years old and learn all the tricks, that is why is is hard to get rid of them. Is this true?

I know this will not help in your situation but a little info on crows.

Crows are very hard to get rid of because they are so smart. A plastic owl will scare them off (owl is a natural preditor) for a while but they will soon figure out it is only plastic.

They are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty now so you can only kill them in season usually in the winter. The season can only last like 120 days per year per the treaty so most states allow hunting only on 3 or 4 days in a week. This way they can extend the season for more weeks.

The ONLY way I have found to keep crows out of my pecan trees that works is to kill one crow and hang him from a branch of the tree for a week or so. They are smart because they will leave and not come back for months.

Do not know if this would work for what your problem is but a propane cannon is/was a common way to keep them away from the corn crop. Of course a good old scare crow might do the trick if you set it up the right way so as to have it move from time to time and if it has a pipe as to look like a gun and then have it go bang even better

One works real well when they are flying! ...the other works real well when they are perched! Lotsa fun too!

have someone kill a crow & hang the body up close to where it pecks (5 or 10 yards away). He'll go away & stay away. Any place you don't want a crow, hang a dead crow nearby & you will not see them there again.

A few years ago I lost a lot of water mellons to the crows. What I did was, string some nylon fishing line on poles above my mellons. Not a lot, just random back, and forth above the patch. It didn't take long for the crows to stop flying into my mellon patch. I could see where they hit the line in a few places. I don't think they can see the thin line. This really worked for me. Those birds are a real pain in the rear. Before I realized it, they picked the rubber seal in peaces on the roof of my car. If my wife sets eggs down from the chickens, the crows eat the eggs, before she takes them into the house. As for the church building try stringing some fish line across a couple windows, and see what happens.stan

Crows have closed seasons now.A good air rifle with a scope will fix the crows, you want a rifle that will shoot a pellet at 1000 fps.

I shot one years ago and hung him up near the barn where the problem was... I didn't see a crow for just about a year.
.22 barrell in a pop bottle and blast away if you're worried about the noise...

I had teh buggers digging up swwet corn seed. I called teh game warden and asked if I could blast them as Missouri has rules allowing you to "protect property." He said he wasn"t too concerned about it, only needed a blessing if it involved deer, turkey or bear. I sat up with the ar-15 about 200 yards away and turned a couple into feather balls.
