Setting the bar too low

I read an article not too long ago about what happens if every thing is made too easy for us. You can't high jump if the bar is set low. Can you imagine what a pole vaulter would do if all he had to do was step over the bar.

I agree 100%

JFK said "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard... .”

Today's "leaders" - and most of the people - only seem to want to take the paths that are easiest. Accomplishments of any value or significance are never achieved by choosing just the easy goals...
 
I agree. Now it seems if anyone has any accomplishments at all they are deemed to have gotten what they have unfairly and are taxed exhorbitantly because of it. They are eliminating the incentive to achieve. They have created an atmosphere of underachievement and then wonder why people underachieve. Mike
 
I know a lot of harder working rich and poor folk, none of them do it for the money. They work hard because they had a strong work ethic instilled in them by parents or other.

Don't confuse rich with hard working.
 
A lot of people living it, affirmative action, dumbed down curriculums in schools and colleges, generational welfare dependency and the list goes on. It must be a miserable existence to be lazy and stupid. I have thanked the good lord many times over the years that I was raised by parents who taught us to stand on our own two feet.
 
I just mentioned this, Ken, because of what seems to be prevalent in the arena of ideas out there. I did not say I agreed with the premise. There are a whole lot of hard working folks out there (myself included) that seem to be demonized by certain people for political gain. If people were allowed to keep more of the fruits of their own labor the whole country would be a much better place to live and work. Mike

I'm not arguing with your statement Mike, but who are "they"?
They being the politicians and law makers that we elect are usually who get blamed.
But if we elect them, even by choosing not to vote, then "we" are "they".
