Possible to rebuild valve?

Got a mf 205 industrial with a 200 loader and rear 3pt hydrualics. Both the loader valve and rear valve are leaking...I was thinking of taking some of it apart to see if there were o-rings I could get replacements from at my local hydraulic shop. Anyone know if this is doable, or are there some special parts in the valves that can't be fixed. They leak a bit where the handle connects to a cylinder that pulls up/down or in/out...are there o-rings for these cylinders? Anyone have experience with these? TIA
 
It might be best to take it to an experienced
hydraulic shop to see if it can be repaired if you
have no experience working on hyd. valves.
 
If you need to ask...you have no business taking it apart. Save yourself some money and take it to someone that knows what they are doing.
 
That is absolutely doable! In some cases you can do it without even removing the valve assembly.If it has retainer plates screwed to the valve body, 90% of the time it's a O-ring/back-up ring arrangement. No removable end plates, there may be a lip seal in there, and if so, you will have to remove the centering spring to re-assemble it, as you can only push the spool through the valve body in one direction.If the chrome is pitted, clean it up as best you can with a stiff wire wheel. Be careful not to buff the sharp edges of the spool, this sharpness helps to seal the valve. Do not insert a spool into any hole except the one it came out of.
 
Thanks, Fritz. I thought it was doable too. I've rebuilt rams, rebuilt my perkins 3 cyl diesel...I ask so I can get my head around the project before I begin. Some things I can't touch, like rebuilding the internals of a fuel injection pump...not doable for me or most people, but most other things are o-rings and seals, springs and such...not tough if you have care and common mechanical sense. thanks
