OT - 41 Internation K3

I recently purchased an IH K3 sn # 4869 which I think is a 1941...and has an HD213 sn# 7763 engine.

I have found oldIH and redpower websites but there isn't a lot of web stuff out there on these trucks

1. Any good sources of parts?
2. I have not found any K3 manuals to download or purchase yet but would like one.
3. Is the HD213 the "Green Diamond" engine?

...Anyway the truck is 99% original and has original box and hoist (I think called the stake body)...I need to do a little work on wiring, motor and brakes and all should be good

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Congratulations! The "KB" Series trucks are great machines! Check-out these two sites:

The HD213 is an older engine than those trucks left the factory with. IH and Willys both purchased the HD213 from Wilson Manufacturing in the 1930's...but when the K-series trucks came out, IH was building their own version of that engine, which they called the Green Diamond (GRD) 214. The GRD214 was built at IH's Indianapolis engine plant, and it is NOT the Green Diamond engine, although it WAS the forerunner to the GRD.

There's an outfit called BinderBooks that sells the manuals for these trucks, but since they also sell manuals for the tractors, the folks at this site don't like to let posts with their link stay here very long. Try www.external_link .

Parts sources are out there, but they're few and far between. Unlike Ford and Chevy, there's not a lot of aftermarket support...and since that engine was never used in a farm tractor, the CaseIH supply chain isn't much help, either.

Try the folks over at www.oldihc.org ...there are some real K-series gurus over there [I'm not one of them; my knowledge runs more to the L-series trucks].

I have worked on a few Green Diamond 214 engines but never knew the story of the 213. I will never forget the one old K model pickup a guy drug in because it would not start. Zero compression basically. Every exhaust valve was burned. Once in a life time deal.

I had a 49 kb1 a couple years ago. I purchased parts from the scout connection in Iowa. They advertise in red power magazine. Also Dick pappy Vance in Hannibal mo. Is a long time vendor of IH truck parts.
