just watching taping of pickers,,right of the bat they go to a place where their was lot of tractors/steamers etc... frank says that the steam engine would have to sit on mike"s side of the van,,i like to see those two idiots load any of those tractors in their van,,lol,, lt least they are picking some farm stuff..any one else watched show...

Yea I like the girl she's cute and that tatoo is great
Some of the thugs they find are very rare hidden away in some Idiots barn to just rust away. Those tractors need a new home and put into good condition. They have Case 110 now that's a rare Case.
Walt
Ps those idiots are making a good living at this, how are you doing.

If they are indeed making a good living at it, then there is more going on than what we get to see on the TV show. Figure that van gets maybe 8 to 10 miles per gallon, they're spending $75 to $100 per night for a motel room, and then they still need to eat. More than likely they are being subsidized by the shows producer?

Wow, nobody has complained that they didn't "pick" the tractors. Nobody has complained about them "screwing" anyone either.

If you get "Velocity" channel there's a show on there called Car Fix. This week's episode was about getting an old John Deere H running. It was mildly entertaining to watch them try to start the thing by hand.

why cant they make a reality show about tractor talk and tractor tales, visiting many of the people here on this site, and filming their day to day occurances,,,, now I think that would be a good reality show!!

Once in a while they get generous, (supposedly by what's shown) not long ago they found an ornate mirror frame, the old guy offered it to them for $25, they said that's not enough and gave him $75, later said it's worth $300. A while back they bought a dinosaur bone for $400 (as I remember) and donated it to a museum.
I'm sure the show's sponsors pay them plenty.

Would only work if you had guys cussing a tractor that will not start or throwing wrenches or maybe a fire.

Rick

you have to remember these guys are pickers, rarely are they buying stricly for themselves. They are buying what their clients want.they have buyers before they even pick something up,thats the list they hand out, things that folks they more or less work for are interested in.Very little of this stuff is sold in their own retail outlet.they are strictly middle men, between the owner and buyer. Most of what they pick are going into specialty shops somewhere such as ones selling vintage building fixtures and things.the reason they dont pick tractors and things is because most of these change hands directly. You meet a guy at a show or a place like this site, let him know your looking for something and if he has one for sale you deal.probably 99% of all tractor sold spend their entire working lives in the same general area they were delivered originaly. Most folks wouldnt work with someone like these guys when trying to find a tractor when theres probably 25 of the ones they are looking for within a fifty mile radius of them.

If that van has the Mercedes Benz diesel engine, it should be giving about 34 miles per gallon. I have the same van here, and thats what I expect.

I saw it. Didn't get too worked up that they didn't try to buy any engines. I've seen'em walk by nicer stuff than that. They might could'a give'em a little more camera time though. I think I saw a nice Frick sitting there among'em.

I do NOT like those Free-Loading Pan-Handlers..

I'd sure hate to see them in my driveway...

ALL they are thinking is $$$$ Signs...

Ron..

They paid a guy $25 for an old Fire alarm box claimed they were going to sell it for $50, I had one just like it I paid $75 for mine 10 years ago. The town I got it from had offers of $200 for every one they had but the town decided to sell them to the local people. I have since seen the same era box going for close to $2000 without listing the city they came from. I wondered if the one they bought didn't have the internals if it did it was worth over $25 just in scrap value. I'm thinking the internals were missing due to the way he hefted it around, the box is cast iron with another cast iron box inside filled with brass gears that automate the telegraph portion to tell the firehall which box the alarm is sent from. They are 75 to 80 pounds

I like American Pickers!

I'd love to be able to travel, see interesting things, meet interesting people, and make money doing it. Sounds like a dream job.

Ever notice how those who DO NOT know how to make money think those of us that DO know how to make money, are doing something wrong, crooked, or illegal???

For those of you who don't know how to make money, listen up, I'm about to tell you the secret:

BUY LOW AND SELL HIGH!

That's all there is to it. Nothing illegal, immoral, or wrong. It's called free trade, capitalism, trading, barter, business etc.

I have made a lot of money with that simple concept. I've never had a seller hold a gun to my head and I have never held a gun to my buyers heads.

I watch it. I like it. It is a TV show. They don't have to make a living buying and selling. I am sure they are making enough on the TV show to live well. You have to be pretty narrow minded to believe that the comment about the steam traction being on the other one side of the fan was not said in jest.

I watch it some, like the stuff they show, can't stand to listen to their moronic babble, usually turn it off if nothing real interesting is featured.

Pan-handlers don't walk around with a stack of $100 bills.

They pay fair wholesale prices for what they buy. The people they deal with on the show are clearly savvy enough to hold their own with these guys.

So what if all they are thinking of is $$$ signs? Don't we all at one time or another? They clearly love what they do and are making a living at it.

I mean yeah, they can be a little intrusive but they knock on the door and ask, just like any other door-to-door salesman. Fuller Brush man. Schwann's frozen foods. Eureka vacuum cleaners. Avon cosmetics. Amway products. Wonder bread. Heck, even the milk man.

The difference here is they want to clean up some of your junk and give you money for it, not sell you some junk and take your money.

Sounds a bit like Classic Tractor Fever on RFDTV.
