13.6-38 vs. 14.9-38

Have a MD Farmall I am restoring and one tire is shot. Friend says he has a good pair of 14.9-38's if I want them. Going to look at them. Is this tire to big for the rim and also to big a tire this tractor. Thanks

Have 14.5-38s on our SM stock rims and JD A...will fit comfortably and no not too big

Assuming your rims are at least 11" or 12", then 14.9x38 tires will work just fine.

Will fit but due to the larger diameter and therfore larger circumfrence it will travel faster and for pulling the same load you may have to shift to a lower gear unless you are already running in low due to speed. I don't have the actual figures but I would think due to the size you would gain over a foot in each reveloution of the wheel.

A 14.9 is 13 inches at the rim. Rim can be inch wider or narrower and still work well. I wouldn"t put it on an 11 inch rim.
