Loader slowly keeps dropping

I have a Massey Ferguson 255 tractor with a Farmhand loader on it and the loader will constantly/slowly keep going down while I am using it. Can anyone tell me why? I have replaced both lift cylinders in the past few years.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

While it could be the valve leaking, 9 times out of 10 it is the seals in one or both of the cylinders that are leaking. I would check the cylinders first before going into the valve. I would guess that it uses o-ring seals rather than seals like an industrial loader and it's not uncommon for them to leak in a relatively short period.

if your hydraulic lines are pipe thread fittings, pick up a couple of iron water shut off valves and plumb them in in the drop side of each cylinder. put a little weight in the bucket, hundred pounds or so, then raise the loader up, shut the valves off. let the tractor sit shut off for a while and see if the loader drops, if it does, its bad cylinders, if not, its the spool valve. dont leave the valves in for loader work, they cant handle the high pressure.
