Could you repeat that???

Yesterday while cutting hay with the 1855 the muffler fell (rotted) off.... I always wear ear plugs but that's still quite loud. Being a Saturday and not being able to get a replacement right now, we kept going. After cutting I put it on the chopper, and man will that make it bark when a slug goes through.

I know the AGCO muffler is over $300, so we may find a cheaper one with a 3" opening and have a muffler shop expand it to 3 1/8".

Then to top it off, a 16.5x16.1 implement tire on the back of one of our wagons that was getting thin (wore through 4 of 10 plies) got poked through by the hay stubble and actualy blew a hole in the ground. We put on our spare manure spreader tire, a 10.00x20. We're gonna play musical running gears and put one under that wagon (only a 16' gehl 920) that has 10.00x15's instead of those mamoth 16.1 flotation tires. Anyone know how much one of those fatty tires run? I can only imagine that one of those implement tires new would cost more than what we paid for the entire wagon, a whopping $400.

Make sure you call the Agco dealer and price one first. I may be wrong, but I had the same thing happen on a 180 MF a few years ago and the Agoc replacement was not all that unreasonable.

I just bought a set of 16.5x16.1 implement tires. I got Titan 12 ply tires for $415 each. That was the cheapest I could find the 12 ply tires. I know they are not cheap but I like how they handle the load and they do not cause as much compaction as a used truck tire.

My brother has a chopper box that has the used cement mixer tires on it. When we chop hay you can track where you drive it when the hay starts to regrow. Those tracks are several days behind the ones made with flotation tires.

quick google search turned up one for 120 bucks...

Just play around a little.. I found a site once (SSB Tractor maybe?) that had some really cheap priced mufflers... Don't know about quality, but for the price you could afford to replace it a little more often...

Check with Gensco at 800-663 5287 or WWW.noflats.com. They sell used aircraft tires and are a good place to do business with.

Don,I would pay for the origional (Donaldson or were they a Nelson?) from AGCO. They aren't that expensive for what you get. Heavier construction, not that cheap aluminized steel/tin, and they are so much quieter. You get what you pay for.

I know the nelson mufflers are the best, but arco no longer uses them. Only stanley mufflers now, unless they have NOS. I'll cal the dealer tomorrow, but last time I asked about one I got sticker shock.

I see shoup has one for a little over $100.
