Helping out a Neighbor...

A few months ago a friend/neighbor was in a bad
car accident & got smashed up unable to do his
summer farm chores for a 30 Head Beef operation.
This man is a International / Ford user & a very
nice older gent. Another neighbor who is a Son
in law & us bailed 1680 bales yesterday &
figure that much or alittle more for today.. We
however used about all Green & Yellow. 520 jd,
tedding 2 - 530's jd raking 2355 bailing & with
a 348 bailer & my 620 Jd with a 337 bailer.
Along 8 kicker wagons.. When the day was done
we said that we hoped he didn't mind the change
of colors, with a tear in his eye, said Not
this time.

Glad to see there are still some good neighbors around somewhere. I haven't run across any around me for over fifty years. Thanks for helping him out.

People like you are few are far between. I bet your neighbor can't thank you enough. You should be proud of yourselves.

Retiredfarmer.........you just come move over here next to me. I"ll treat you so many different ways you can't help but like one of them!

Those jobs never seem like work. Thirteen of us gathered years ago to plow for a neighbor who broke his ankle. 100 acres in a very short day, excellent meal and no shortage of beer. Another time a smaller group baled hay while a neighbor was in the VA hospital. Good time, lotsa beer.

Always great to help out a friend/neighbor. I always try and do the same, and am glad to do it. I hope it never happens where I am in a position like that, but if it would, I know others would do it for me.

That is what is was, here...!!

Grandad got surprised one morning when he looked out and two neighbors were in his barn drive with tractors and mowers, to cut hay..!!
We ALWAYS worked back and forth..made the job a real Pleasure for ALL...I MISS those days...

Good for you!!! As nice as the gesture was, you prolly gave the old dude color shock and he may never be right again tho......

Thank you for helping your neighbor! I have been on both sides and it sure is harder to be inside looking out of the window, but very grateful and humbled to have help when needed.

You need to move! There are a bunch of good rural areas left yet, where even big farmer help each other out.

A very nice gesture, wish folks around here were like that. I've been haying in 100 degree weather and just had heart surgery. Gotta get it done!!! I think you meant baler not bailer. You're a good person.

It's something in the farming blood that does that. I'd like to have a buck for each time I have done that- and it comes full circle. About twenty years ago, I tried to bench press a TD-9, and it laid me up for darn near a year. I found out that I had some really great neighbors during that time. And I'm lucky- I'm back to helping out again.

Some time ago a friend left off haying to go on fire call to fight a brush fire. It took awhile and the sun was about to set when we got done and headed home He and his brother had about 400 bales on the ground with rain coming and the brother had gone to milk. I called some friends, and my wife and I went with a tractor and wagon. We worked two crews picking up and stacking on the wagons, and even got it all put in the barn.
