Ford New Holland 3930/Engine shuts down

My Ford New Holland 3930 Tractor shuts down after running for about 5 minutes. It has fuel and oil, and it's not the fuel filter. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?

A shot in the dark here, but my first reaction is a faulty fuel cap....ie....not venting and therefore not letting fuel flow to pump fast enough. Does it restart after several minutes?? Try loosening cap and starting/running for a bit.

Maybe some of the real pros here will chime in with answers. You also might want to to post this question in the FORD forum.

Good luck....Rick

Does it start back up right away? How long before it starts again? Do you have to bleed the pump/injectors to get it started again? How do you know it is not the filter? Did you change it? Do you have good flow at the bleeder on the filter? Bleeder on the pump?
More info needed to make any kind a judgement as to the problem.

Some Ford 3930's have manual fuel shut off, pull out to kill the engine. Some have electro solenoid shut off/on with key. Your solenoid if you have one may be going bad, losing it's magnetic ability to keep the fuel on.

The nice thing about diesels is pretty much always the problem is the fuel, you just have to narrow it down to where. So you say it has fuel, so yes it is in the tank, but please describe how you know that it is at the injectors. It is very common for a diesel that "has fuel" to not have adequate fuel.

It starts back up after about 5 minutes and runs perfectly. There is no missing like it ran out of fuel. It has a new fuel filter on it...don't have to bleed injectors..it starts right back up.

If this thing has an electric shutoff on the key I would expect that it's got a weak or problematic fuel solenoid in the pump. If it's a manual shutoff then you best look at the tank strainer....
